Class structure will build on students' prior knowledge of the English language. Students will interact with each other by asking questions in English. I will teach using slides, screen shares for grammar/vocab practice and some games. My teaching style differs based on what students learn best from (visual, auditory or kinetic). Topics such as current events and typical cultural differences may also be covered via video/newspaper clips. Content will start with questions/sentence starters for students to be thinking about the content and responding to other participants. Topics covered will include: Week 1: Review of beginning English basics: greetings, numbers, colors, weather, geography, prounouns, verbs and adjectives. Week 2: Clothes, modal auxillaires, pronunciation with emphasis on parts of the word. Week 3: Simple past tense, types of homes/apartments, prepositions. Week 4: Verbs for cleaning the house, freetime activities, common medical ailments. Week 5: Verbs related to health and well-being, conjunctions, body parts. Week 6: Review of common occupations, diphthongs and pronunciation with emphasis on Week 7: Adverbs, dialogue practice, possessive pronouns. Week 9: Pronouns and adjectives, extended family vocabulary, kitchen utensils. Final course assessment, wrap-up of topics covered.
