Beginner Level
Each week, learners will be introduced to a new topic or subject with accompanying vocabulary words. Pictures, visualisations such as show n tell items, audio & video clips, illustrations from books will all be used. This class involves a lot of student interaction through speaking & repetition. *** Parents please review the themes below so your child may participate with the class discussion. No prior English knowledge is needed. Suitable for beginners with little to no exposure to the language. We will start the lesson with each child introducing themselves in English so that we can all get to know each other. Following introductions, the teacher will show 5 objects related to that weeks' topic and teach the nouns. The weekly themes are listed below. Theme 1 - November 4th What’s In My Pencil Case - Bring Your School Pencil Case or Backpack Theme 2 - November 11th The Sports I Love - Medals You have Won, Team Photos, Sports Equipment You Use Theme 3 - November 18th Around the World - Bring a flag from another country. Something important to your culture) Theme 4 - November 25th Trip to the Zoo - Bring an Animal Toy Theme 5 - December 2nd Happy Birthday - Favorite Birthday Present, Memory/Photo, Birthday Hats & Balloons Welcomed) Theme 6 - December 9th Music to My Ears - Bring A Musical Instrument or Musical Toy To Play Theme 7 - December 16th Bedtime Routine - Bring a Story/ Favorite Stuffy you sleep with Theme 8 - December 23rd All Things Christmas
Learning Goals
Students will briefly learn about the English language, as well as practice their skills of pronunciation and comprehension. This class is for new learners with a focus on retaining vocabulary while interacting with peers.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Non-US Teaching Certificate in English to Speakers of Other Languages
Teacher Monique (Madame Monique), spent 15 years teaching English & French around the world. She has taught/lived in 8 different countries and has traveled to over 40 countries.
While overseas she taught children ages 2-16 in private, charter & international schools. Additionally, she helped prepare college/university students working towards their entrance exams and taught adults needing business and conversational English for their workplace.
In 2015 she returned to her home country of Canada and soon after started teaching with two online ESL companies based in China.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in Criminology as well as TEFL and CELTA certificates for ESL learners.
She has dual citizenship with France, grew up in a French speaking household and attended French Immersion from preK to Grade 12. She is a Native Bilingual Speaker.
Before working in the field of education, she worked in Customs & Immigration and Youth Corrections/Youth Probation.
She is a mom to a 14yr old boy who has level 2 autism and a rare epileptic disorder. She spends a majority of her time dedicated to special needs and inclusion advocacy and is very adaptable, patient and welcoming to all learners.
