In this one-on-one course, you will gain a diverse set of skills and techniques to excel in English essay writing. The course's structure is designed to be flexible, accommodating individual learning preferences and progress. In each session, we will focus on a specific topic or aspect of essay writing, tailoring the content to your individual interests and goals. Before each session, you will have the opportunity to share an assignment you are working on, choose your own topic of interest and skill, or I can provide an assignment based on your needs and goals. Each week, we will work together to identify the topics that will best serve you as you progress through the essay writing process. Topics may include: - crafting strong thesis statements or hooks - developing coherent and compelling body paragraphs that support your main arguments - constructing effective conclusions that summarize and reinforce your main arguments while providing closure to the essay - analyzing, incorporating, and citing evidence from other sources - improving grammar, spelling, and punctuation - considering the needs and perspective of the audience - using graphic organizers to generate ideas, identify connections, develop a coherent structure, and overcome writer's block - planning for and writing various essay types, including argumentative, narrative, and expository essays - understanding that writing is an iterative process and that revision is an essential part of the writing process Class time may include opportunities to set goals, analyze model texts that exemplify strong examples of that week's writing goal, complete short writing exercises, or review previous work. We may spend time critiquing and revising the organization, mechanics, and language of a current or past assignment. Feedback may also include identifying patterns of error in your writing and developing rules or strategies to correct them. My teaching style is conversational, collaborative, and encouraging. I will provide clear explanations, concrete examples, and practical exercises to reinforce your understanding of essay writing concepts. Additionally, I'll offer constructive feedback to help you strengthen your writing skills progressively. This course is designed to accommodate learners of all skill levels, from beginners to more experienced writers. All you need is a passion for improving your writing and a willingness to engage actively in the learning process. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to make a schedule request.
