Looking to improve spelling, punctuation, parts of speech, and figurative language? Or perhaps writing essays, stories, or poetry? You've come to the right place! This ongoing class is a straight-forward approach to targeting these skills and is a full curriculum that meets Common Core and TEKS standards. Each week builds from day-to-day from Monday through Friday with a different focus each separate week. For example, if "the writing process" is the focus for the week, Monday it will be introduced, then each consecutive day will be dedicated to working on this though different mini lessons and activities. So, stay for a week, choose the weeks that suit your needs, or stay for several weeks to fulfill your grammar and writing curriculum. Take a look at the upcoming schedule and come and go as you please! ***I love working with groups! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SCHEDULE A PRIVATE CLASS FOR YOUR HOMESCHOOL GROUP, PLEASE MESSAGE ME!*** This class has been designed to be completed 100% online, but if your learner requires hands-on versions of the materials, these are also available as printables! Each class will begin with very basic introductions to the teacher and classmates to encourage an upbuilding online classroom culture. The grammar exercises will be posted in the Outschool classroom, and will be available to work on as a Google Form or a printable PDF. Each day of the week has it's own theme! Monday: Meaningful Monday Tuesday: Text Structure Tuesday Wednesday: Wordy Wednesday Thursday: Throwback Thursday Friday: Figurative Friday Students will have an opportunity to work out the remainder of the exercises on their own after a mini grammar lesson, followed by live teacher feedback. This is followed by a mini writing lesson to build various writing skills outlined in the weekly schedules below. All activities are designed to be concise and all work will be completed within the class time with feedback each day. Supply List
If a student working exclusively on a device, please make sure they can access a word processor or Google Docs in order to work on their writing. Students may also use a notebook and pencil instead (which is my personal preference!). A dictionary or thesaurus may be used for certain activities. I recommend using Merriam-Webster online for free or a physical dictionary (if there is one available at home). If you’d like to purchase a physical dictionary, they cost between $3-$10.

Texas Teaching Certificate
Hello! I am Miss Nicole and I teach English language arts, and reading. I have been honored to be awarded Teacher of the Year by my fellow faculty and voted "Most Caring" and "Gives the Best Advice" by my students! I earned my BA in English with a minor in French in 2006, and my certifications include Core Subjects (ELAR, Science, Math, and Social Studies) grades 4-8 and English as a Second Language. I have taught ELAR collectively for nine years: in public middle schools for six and for homeschooled families for three. Making reading and writing come alive for my students and challenging them to think outside the box is my favorite way to engage them in learning. Learning should be interesting and enjoyable for everyone! I consider myself a lifelong learner, and love learning new recipes, dance steps, and music as often as possible!
