Description

Class Experience

Learners will develop confidence in their ability to speak the English language, some new vocabulary, and in some cases (see class description) they will also learn the skill of preparing talking points before a discussion.
Ms. Shiren has taught young people and adults English as a Second/Foreign Language, from conversational classes to grammar and writing classes in her home country as well as abroad. She teaches both ESL/EFL learners and native English speakers how to write and improve their written and spoken communication. She also teaches French and Spanish and understands what it takes to learn, and become comfortable in, a new language - including confidence, which can be one of the most important parts! Ms. Shiren's current following of both EFL/ESL and native English students continue to see improvements in their English language skills and writing ability.

Ms. Shiren has also worked as a copyeditor and freelance journalist.
Learners who need to boost their confidence and vocabulary to feel more comfortable speaking in class are strongly encouraged to prepare their talking points and relevant vocabulary prior to the following class.
It is recommended for learners to bring a notebook to make note of any new words they want to create a list of. This is optional, however.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment will be provided throughout the class to ensure the level of conversation is manageable for the students in the section, and to encourage engagement.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
