In this 8-week online class, we will meet 2x/week and gain confidence speaking English using common phrases, complete sentences and correct pronunciation.

Does your child need practice speaking English with an insightful and friendly certified teacher? I use multi-sensory instruction to engage my learners. Multi-sensory instruction is a way of teaching that engages more than one sense at a time. Through the Outschool platform, learners will not only visually see me and the Canva slides, but they will hear me teaching and may hear audio on the slides. They may also be asked to find something around them that is soft, or moves (depending on the topic). When we talk about food, I will bring food to my video screen to talk about it. Learners will engage in meaningful conversation that can be used in everyday life. Students may bring a favorite toy, or award to the first class. Speaking in complete sentences is an important skill that will be taught. Listening to another person speak when it is their turn will also be taught. I will use facial expressions, gestures and Canva slides to help facilitate each session. The goals of this conversational speaking class are to gain confidence speaking English with a native speaker, to communicate effectively with peers, good pronunciation, correct sentence formation, and exposure to new vocabulary. The 8 week course topics are: Week 1: Greetings/Introductions/Foods Week 2: Daily Activities/My Hobbies Week 3: My Family/Holidays in my Country Week 4: Seasons and Weather/Clothes Week 5: Colors/Adjectives Week 6: Good Friends/Feelings Week 7: Transportation/Jobs and Occupations Week 8: Comparing Shapes and Sizes/Prepositions
Learning Goals
Learners will improve their speaking skills. This class is great for ELL students, but is open to anyone wanting to learn new vocabulary and gain confidence with public speaking skills. Each class we will focus on different topics. Slides with pictures and text will be used to drive instruction. Examples of topics include: My Favorite Foods, My Hobbies, My Family, My Country, My Favorite Holidays, etc. Students will have the opportunity to practice English with a certified, fluent, elementary school teacher and their peers. Conversation will be guided by Mrs. Amy and corrected with kindness and patience (when needed).

Bring an award you earned, or a toy. This will be used to introduce yourself in the beginning of the class.
