In this one-time course, students will practice their English skills privately with an experienced TEFL instructor (over 10,000 lessons) through ESL curriculum or conversation. I am new on Outschool, but I have been teaching ESL for 6 years.

Intermediate - Advanced Level
We will work on improving the student's conversation skills and building confidence in his or her speaking ability. I will evaluate your student's skills and focus on their strengths and weaknesses. We will be discussing a variety of topics that are age appropriate so that the student can practice their conversational skills. Topics may include: favorite classes, movies, music, books, travel, current events, etc. For the first lesson, the conversation will be structured with me asking questions to get to know the student better. After the student feels comfortable with me, if he or she has any specific questions or problems they would like to work on that can be accommodated as well. I will correct any mistakes that the student makes, but in a postitive, helpful way. I never want the student to feel embarrassed. I will encourage questions and am happy to repeat or explain difficult words. My teaching style is friendly, fun, encouraging, and positive. I believe students learn better when they are having fun and comfortable. The entire lesson will be just the two of us communicating and having an interesting but relaxed conversation. The student should speak at least a basic level of English.
Learning Goals
The learning goal for my ESL class is that the student will improve their English skills and become more confident when speaking English. By practicing theses skills with an ESL tutor, it will give students the confidence needed to communicate in English with anyone. I want my students to be comfortable and relaxed and feel as though they are talking to a friend. I encourage the student to ask questions if they are unsure of anything. The student will have the option of using ESL materials for practicing reading and understanding context of English articles, playing online games together to promote English skills, or having a conversation on the topic of their choosing. We can also focus on any special needs or skills the student is struggling with.
