Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their reading skills through targeted phonics, fluency and comprehension instruction.
I am a certified elementary teacher and have taught phonics, reading, writing and math for many years. Before teaching 2nd grade, I tutored students in reading comprehension, decoding words, math and science after school and during the summer. I was also a Title 1 reading intervention specialist for grades kindergarten-3rd grade focusing on reading fluency and comprehension strategies. I have worked in a preschool and pre-k setting as well working on a variety of literacy skills.
Reading passages may be assigned after initial tutoring session. Any reading passages or stories will be vetted and chosen to ensure compliance with the Outschool policies.
Learners will be assessed informally through discussion and reading abilities.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
No reading passages with sensitive or political topics will be chosen.
