Welcome to Quantum Montessori's Early Childhood Distance Learning Program for preschool and kindergarten students, designed to prepare them for Elementary 1 (1st - 3rd grade). Each week, we'll engage in a structured and interactive learning experience: 🌟 What will be taught? I will cover core Montessori areas including Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural Studies. 📚 What topics will you cover? Topics will include foundational skills in math and language, exploration of sensory experiences, practical life skills, and introduction to cultural concepts. 📅 How is your class structured? Our sessions include a community meeting and short mindfulness practices at the beginning to set intentions for the day. Each class will feature interactive activities, and weekly pre-recorded video guidance with home practice assignments to enrich learning beyond live sessions. 🧩 How will you teach? Teaching will be conducted through a blend of interactive methods such as live sessions, videos, and guided activities. I use a variety of tools including slides, discussion prompts, and engaging games to facilitate learning. 🎓 What's your teaching style? My teaching style is child-centered and interactive, focusing on creating a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity and independence. 👥 How much will learners get to interact with you? Students will have five Montessori guidance sessions each week, meeting for one hour on three different days. The interaction will include live guidance, discussions, games, and the use of multimedia resources to ensure an engaging learning experience. What is Montessori and Why Should You Join? Montessori education is a child-centered approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori that emphasizes the natural development of children. This method prioritizes self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play, allowing each child to thrive in their unique way. 🌱 Why Montessori? Montessori education is designed to cater to each child’s individual needs, enabling them to progress at their own pace. It fosters independence by guiding children to take responsibility for their own learning, which builds self-confidence and self-reliance. Moreover, this approach supports holistic development—emotional, social, and intellectual—preparing children for a lifelong love of learning. By choosing our program, you are embracing a proven educational method that nurtures your child’s innate curiosity and enthusiasm for learning within a structured and supportive environment. Join us on this rewarding journey where every child's growth and development are celebrated and nurtured!
Learning Goals
This class are to foster self-directed learning through practical life skills, sensory exploration, and foundational math and language skills. Students will also engage in cultural studies to support holistic development and independence.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Please provide a safe space where children can sit on the ground, stand up, and lie down without any objects interfering. A yoga mat, blanket or towel to create this space is also needed.
Supply List
The first day of class students will need a rug or towel to sit on. A medium size bath towel is also definitely doable in a pinch! Children will be asked to bring other small items to class on follow up days, these are items they can choose from nature, their own toys, or household items. A small box no larger than a shoe box will be needed to put these items in. OUR GUIDES:
⭐️ Ms. Sandra Jacobs is a Certified Montessori Teacher with the American Montessori Society. She chose to take this intensive in person training after working with Teach for America as an Elementary Teacher when even on the best days as a young teacher in her 5th grade class in North Carolina or in her 4th grade Special Education classroom on the island of Maui she knew deep in her teacher's heart there had to be something more, there must be something better.
As a young mother 22 years ago, she first read about Maria Montessori's pedagogy in a bookstore while browsing thru the parent self-help books. She was hooked! Maria was a woman before her time and her belief that children deserve the very best is one Ms. Jacobs has adopted in her own family, in her classrooms, and in her advocacy work.
Now a proud homeschooling mother of 3 (a middle schooler, high schooler, and a college graduate) she brings to Quantum Montessori two decades of parenting, homeschooling, and a love of learning and teaching supported by a degree in Human Development & Family Studies, Graduate Work in Early Childhood Education, a Professional Figure Skater & Coach, and a 400 hour Kundalini Yoga Certification.
Her favorite thing to do is connect with children and parents and help to re-ignite their confidence in their unique strengths. When she's not working with children & families you can find her in nature exploring wild flowers, sunrises, and sunsets as she full-time travels in her RV with her family.
⭐️ Ms. Monalisa Marin is a dedicated AMI Montessori teacher with a diploma from the Montessori Institute of Bucharest. With over 8 years of international teaching experience across Europe, Africa, and Asia, Monalisa has honed her skills in creating and managing Montessori environments tailored to the diverse needs of children and families. Her extensive background includes establishing new Montessori settings and excelling in classroom management and observation.
Monalisa's journey into Montessori education has profoundly influenced her perspective on learning and the world. She holds a University Diploma in International Economic Relations from the University of Bucharest and transitioned from a career in business to Montessori education after discovering the transformative impact of this methodology.
In addition to her Montessori expertise, Monalisa has specialized training in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), equipping her to support students' emotional and social development effectively. Her approach is characterized by passion, love, and a deep sense of responsibility in guiding students.
Outside of teaching, Monalisa enjoys gardening, reading, and traveling, which enrich her personal and professional life.
