Intermediate - Advanced Level
This class is not meant for teaching the basics of Spanish. It is a place to practice the Spanish you already know. Students should have the vocabulary and knowledge to be able to form sentences on their own. Students are welcome to sign up for more than one section since no two sections will be the same and will always offer a variety of presentations and opportunities for practice. Please note that the length of student's sharing time will depend on the number of learners enrolled. What will be taught? Students will expand their vocabulary as they research and prepare for the meeting. They will also expand their vocabulary by listening to classmates. Maestra Zia will serve as a guide by prompting conversations, questions and comments. She will also correct and help students when needed. What topics will you cover? Participants can choose from the following categories. -snacks -outdoors -personal items We will hear from each learner based on the topic that interests them. How is your class structured? During their turn, learners will have the opportunity to speak about one of the suggested topics above. Each presentation will be followed by comments and/or questions. What's your teaching style? Maestra Zia is a happy teacher who loves to provide positive reinforcement and encourage student participation while instructing and modeling materials in a clear and fun way. How much will learners get to interact with you and each other? Learners should be engaged in active listening when they are not speaking so that they can offer comments or questions to the presenters, if they are called on to do so.
Learning Goals
-Learners will practice their spoken Spanish through oral presentations and Q&A.
-Learners will practice their comprehension as they actively listen to presenters.
-Learners will practice their writing skills as they prepare for their individual presentations.

This class is not meant for teaching the basics of Spanish. It is a place to practice the Spanish you already know. Students should have the vocabulary and knowledge to be able to form sentences on their own with minor corrections needed.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Puerto Rico
Maestra Zia is a native Spanish speaker and has two degrees from the University of Puerto Rico. She lived on the island for over 20 years and has worked with the Department of Education there teaching children from Kindergarten through High school. She has also successfully raised fully bilingual children of her own.
