Description

Class Experience

This course will cover popular literary devices for middle grade students.
We will be using the movie Encanto to help us with this exploration.
This class is structured with a powerpoint to guide us along, but requires learner participation and conversation.
Water/ stretch breaks are provided throughout, but students are encouraged to do so as needed.

By the end of this course learners will feel more confident in their abilities to identify literary devices.

If your learner finds greater success taking notes, a notebook and pencil are recommended.

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

This movie's plot is driven by the sacrifice of the Abuelo. Although it is not intended to be a major topic, it may be brought up and discussed as a point that drives the plot forward. If your learner is currently grieving for a loved one, this may be a difficult topic.
