Welcome Encanto friends! In this ongoing class, your child will adventure through Colombia with Mirabel, Luisa, Isabela and more. Talk to animals with Antonio, shape shift with Camilo, and of course- Zumba with Mrs. Marilyn or Miss Shannon! Each week will feature new Encanto friends along with some of our favorites. Learners will follow me as we learn simple choreography. No prior experience needed. No supplies needed! Come dressed in comfortable clothes or as your favorite Encanto friend! The magical door is only a step away! Let’s get active, socialize, and save the Casita! Don’t forget to bring all your energy, special gifts, and a water bottle too! Singing along with our favorite Encanto friends in this upbeat fitness workout keeps it fun and entertaining! Each week will have new Zumba moves and combinations! Children will learn how to move to music while socializing with friends and jamming out to their favorite Encanto songs each week. Class will begin with an introduction and talking about our favorite Encanto friends or setting the scene for that class. I can’t wait to hear all the things you know about Encanto! Each week your learner will be encouraged to bring a special gift with them. Will you be able to talk to animals, control the weather, grow flowers out of nothing, or something completely new and unique? I will first guide students through the warm-up and stretching. Safety first! Next, I will model and perform a variety of exercises as we have fun, sing, and learn our dance routine. Finally, class will finish with a final cool down stretch and more social time! Learners will have the opportunity to help me count out our exercise repetitions, sing along, and share all their Encanto knowledge. You can expect your child to receive lots of encouragement and praise throughout our workout. They will leave feeling excited about fitness, and with a new Zumba routine they can practice at home! Active fun for the whole family! *Join at any time! Stay enrolled as long as your little is enjoying it!* Class will be learner led and students will share their input on favorite songs, characters, and games as we adventure through this ongoing class! Each workout is sure to be fun and fresh as we get to know one another and the activities your little explorers enjoy! Workouts will include: Family Madrigal - Family members we love! What Do You Hear? - Sounds and Freeze Dance with Dolores! Where’s Luisa? - Mirabel, Luisa, and Isabela fun! What’s the Weather? - Emotions and weather with Tia Pepa! Learning Goals
My goal for your little is to help them to find joy in movement! Combining fun moves with songs we can sing along to will encourage them to have fun and build stamina, strength, and flexibility. I seek to do this by providing an engaging and upbeat dance workout that your child will look forward to every week!
Benefits of Zumba Kids:
Helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements such as leadership, respect, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination, balance, and cultural awareness.
Ongoing group classes are great practice for developing social skills and building friendships with familiar faces. I never mute learners (except in cases of distracting background noise, etc). Music will be shared from my computer, and play directly from your child’s device, so it will be easy to sing along!
Improvement in the areas of strength, balance, coordination, and other gross motor skills.
They will also be working towards achieving the daily physical activity recommendations of both the CDC and American Heart Association. According to the CDC, it is recommended that children and adolescents ages (6-17 years) should do 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, including daily aerobic – and activities that strengthen bones (like running or jumping) – 3 days each week, and that build muscles (like climbing or doing push-ups) – 3 days each week."
According to the American Heart Association:
Active kids are more likely to have:
-a healthy weight
-stronger, healthier bones and muscles
-better heart and brain health
-improved brain function, including memory, attention and problem-solving
-better school attendance and academic performance, especially in math, reading and writing
-lower long-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and some kinds of cancer
-less stress and fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression
-less inappropriate and distracting classroom behavior
-improved mental health and psychological well-being, including confidence and self-esteem
