Join Teacher Chimmy and learn basic Spanish words (from the movie Encanto) all on your own schedule! In this flex class, I will be demonstrating proper pronunciation, along with visually entertaining classroom slides to keep your Encanto-lover engaged. And, if you’re wondering… YES! I will be dressed as Mirabel in these recorded lessons. This class is taught in English.
My intention is for students to have a gateway into learning Spanish while incorporating one of their favorite movies, Encanto! The goal is for you learner to develop proper pronunciation and an understanding of certain rules when it comes to pronouncing (or NOT pronouncing) certain letters in Spanish. This class is meant to also expand their knowledge of the world by focusing on the Madrigal family's Colombian culture. This is a great way to introduce them to Spanish! It's also a way to learn fun facts and backstories on what helped make the movie Encanto.
I have been an online ESL teacher (also fluent in Spanish) & tutor for over 4 years and have enjoyed teaching hundreds of students learn and master the English language. I am also a mural artist and specialize in painting cartoon characters/themes & nature backgrounds. I have a B.A. in Mass Communication from Florida International University (April 19, 2002). I also have several teaching certificates such as: TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), TESOL ADVANCED and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
Homework Offered
I will be sending out fun and engaging assignments after each lesson. These worksheets include picture matching, multiple choice, and trivia. The final project will be a "Teach Me" assignment where I ask students to teach my 3 things they are able to find out about Colombia that does not involve anything that they have learned from our lessons.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
