Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Come join our Math and Language Arts Curriculum Pod for K-3 grade Part 1! This is Part 1 of a 3 Part series of classes, covering a school year of Language Arts and Math. Learners will have the opportunity to study with veteran Homeschool teacher, Aunt Sam, throughout the year, while cultivating relationships with new friends!

Aunt Sam understands Homeschooling, she understands figuring out the best curriculum to fit the child, yet allowing the child to be empowered to take ownership of their own education. She also understands how NICE it is to have support, either through Co-ops, Partnership Programs or online classes.

Aunt Sam is here to support your homeschool journey.

A "Meet & Greet Aunt Sam" class is required for assessment of Reading and Math, before the first class. This class needs to be requested, if the scheduled times do not work for your learner.

As an Lower Elementary Class, my Homeschool Philosophy is LESS IS MORE. This means we only meet TWICE a week and enjoy Quality time learning, NOT Quantity time. Classes will be held Tuesday and Thursday each week with chances for individual help with Aunt Sam before or after each class.

It is essential that a placement test be taken for the RightStart Math curriculum (if that is the Math to be used), prior to the one-time Meet & Greet class with Aunt Sam. https://rightstartmath.com/placement-test/

As a Homeschool Mom, I am FLEXIBLE. If there is other curriculum that you prefer to use, I will adjust the schedule, assignments and activities.

Here is a list of curriculum used in this Outline and needed for class (unless decided otherwise):
•	RightStart Math Level B (with manipulatives)
•	Explode the Code, Primers Book A & B
•	Bob Books Set 1 or other beginer reader books (depending on the reader's level)
•	Journal, worksheets printed out from classroom

Website links to the curriculum will be in the Materials section.

Curriculum needs to be purchased prior to the beginning of the first class.

This Pod Outline encompasses EARLY Education: Basic Phonics, Letter and Number recognition/penmanship, Basic Reading and Writing. There will be assignments, but some assignments can easily be done in class or in 1-3 hours outside of class. If necessary, Aunt Sam can be available for help 15-20 minutes before or after each class.

**Circle Time will be held at the beginning of each Tuesday class period. This will be a 15 minute period where students can share new and exciting things that have happened, play an educational game, and catch up with their classmates!**

**Breakout rooms MAY be utilized in class, depending on the class size and capability. The children will receive instruction, and then complete simple assignments/activities in small groups. Breakout rooms will be monitored by Aunt Sam. She will switch back and forth between rooms. Yet, she will also be available in the main session for 1-on-1 help. Students will always be encouraged to request Aunt Sam come into their breakout room, and we can work through problems and solutions together.

I have homeschooled my my 9 children for 25 years, substitute taught for 6 years and taught on Outschool for 4 years. I have taught a wide range of subjects from grades K-8. I am familiar with and have used a variety of different curriculum. The curriculum suggested in the Materials section is the curriculum I found to be homeschool friendly with most of my children, but not all. I have taught many classes in public, private and community classrooms.
