US Grade 1 - 4
This class is all about Compassion and Kindness. These are character traits that need to be explicitly taught in order for them to develop. We will start with introductions and students will have a chance to share their thoughts before reading a story that demonstrates empathy and kindness. As a group we will then work on a short empathy activity to give a visual example of how our words and actions can affect others. This activity will be a discussion on simple scenarios such as, "Someone...
This class will focus on empathy at a very basic and general level. If topics become too personal or emotional in nature, we will be redirected back to the activity which focuses on a situation at a general level (i.e. Betty is sad because she needs to take her dog to the vet -- How would you feel if you were Betty? What can she do for her dog to comfort him/her at the vet?)
