In this class, students will explore the various types of power-ups and items that Mario encounters in his world. Using interactive slides on Nearpod, we will compare those to our own emotions and feelings. (Example — Mario uses a star to become invincible; kids may feel more brave when they use _____) Within Nearpod, students will have a chance to see pictures, short video clips, do some drawing, take short quizzes and play a fun interactive game. **For young readers, it is recommended that...

Nearpod is the primary platform used in this class. Please make sure you are using a LAPTOP or PC, as tablets require downloading the app. *PLEASE NOTE — this class is not designed for smartphone usage, as your learner will need to access Nearpod. Laptops are recommended*
Students will be assessed informally through observation, discussion, and the various activities within Nearpod. Nearpod is an INTERACTIVE website, where I can assess your students in REAL TIME. Nearpod also includes being able to: read, write, draw, and make multiple choices. ** **For young readers, it is recommended that an adult sits close by to assist with reading, writing, and drawing within the Nearpod** **There is toggling involved between Zoom and Nearpod. Parent assistance may be required for young learners not as familiar with toggling.**

NOTE TO PARENTS OF MULTIPLE SIBLINGS ENROLLED: If sibling are taking this class at the same time, please make sure they are EACH using a separate laptop, as we will be using Nearpod -- an interactive website -- where I can see their work in REAL TIME!
