In this early emotional learning class, students will learn how to practice gratitude with Honey Bear from the Slumberkins Series. Developed to teach important social-emotional skills, these stories give children an understanding of their “big feelings” and how best to navigate them through healthy expression and understanding. Students will learn the terms: gratitude, connection, and mindfulness, and how to practice them on a daily basis.
I’m a certified detoxification specialist, yoga teacher and life coach with my bachelor’s in biology - premedical. I also have extensively volunteered in special needs classrooms and clinical settings such as hospitals and outpatient facilities. I have taught children in a classroom setting for over 3 years online and over 10 years in-person.
There is no required homework for this class, but every student will receive a packet of fun-filled, printable activity pages for their continued learning and enjoyment at home!
Students will have the option to draw a picture or write a letter, so please bring paper and their favorite drawing or writing utensils to class!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This is not a class dealing with mental health or mental health issues, but rather how each and every one of us can incorporate more gratitude into our daily lives to feel more present and connected.
We will be reading Honey Bear from the Slumberkins Series. I have special permission from the publisher for the use of all images and source material.
