Class Experience

Students will learn to normalize and recognize their emotions. Students will learn what is going on inside their brain when they feel strong emotions. Students will learn what coping tools are and 11 simple tools to calm down hard emotions (I feel statements, sleep, exercise, fun activities, food, the color game, cooking breathing, balloon breathing, hand to heart, square breathing, and happy place). 
I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor/elementary school social worker. I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker license, along with a School Social Worker License. I have been teaching children about mental health for four years, and I love helping kids learn ways to help with their emotions!
There is no homework for this class, however, I encourage the students to recognize their emotions, and practice the coping tools they learn. 
A one-page handout will be provided at the end of the class on the classroom page.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
