Participants will learn how to draw an emoji with a fun pair of sunglasses in a directed drawing session. Techniques covered will include drawing with shapes and shading with different art supplies. After introductions, the instructor will demonstrate each step of the process and provide feedback throughout the creation of the project. For the reflection portion of the glasses we will brainstorm ideas and draw favorite vacations or dream destinations. To finish the project we will add color as time allows.

Students will improve their understanding of drawing, shading, and art materials.

Paper-ideally card stock or drawing paper Pencil with eraser Coloring supplies: student choice such as colored pencils, crayons, watercolor paint and/or markers

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have taught for 8 years in an elementary art classroom, including virtual experiences, and enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities. I believe creating an engaging, positive classroom is a great way to encourage learning.
My pursuit of teaching began with a Bachelor’s in Art Education and a Bachelor’s of Fine Art. Next, I completed a Master’s degree, and I am currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction.
I cannot wait to meet your child and work toward fostering problem solving and creative thinking in the area of art and beyond. Bridging cross-content knowledge in lessons with creative projects allows students to grow in multiple academic areas.
While not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, spending time outdoors, and working on home design projects.
