What's included
4 live meetings
3 hrs 40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Each week we will discuss scientific innovation. Students will become versed in technology, innovation, marketing, and product testing terminology. They will become familiar with new emerging technologies such as: 3D printing Virtual Reality Microcomputing Information Science Artificial Intelligence Robotics Engineering NFT's Environmental Innovations We will spend a lot of class time discussing from the students' perspective what impact the emerging technologies will have upon daily life. Each week we will focus on a few emerging technologies in-depth to support the overarching topic. Week 1: A quick survey of the the students' familiarity with emerging technology and the invention process. We will start looking at some of the leading companies and changemakers in modern technology. We will look at electric automobiles, environmental processes aimed at preserving the environment, such as eco-friendly concrete production, water cleanup efforts, and carbon capture technology. Week 2: This week we will discuss both the pros and cons of adopting some of the new technology at its first arrival on the market, and how waiting for the technology to get through its initial bugs/versions is an option. We will investigate computing, communications, artificial intelligence, and information science. Week 3: We will continue to look at some of the leading companies and new products they are introducing to consumers. We will discuss beta testing and market research, and explore aerospace and transportation developments, as well as 3D printing and robotics. Week 4: We will conclude our meetings with a discussion of the long term viability of some emerging technologies. We will look at NFT's, virtual reality tools, microcomputing, and next generation Robotics.
Learning Goals
After this course, students will be able to identify the traditional path a technology company follows to turn an idea into a usable technology product.
I hope that each student will discover their own potential to invent and use their imagination to help bring good things into the world.
