Do you have braces, or will you be getting braces in the future? This class is for you! 

As a Dental Hygienist (and a former orthodontic patient), I understand that wires and brackets make cleaning your teeth more difficult. Taking care of your teeth while you have braces requires more time and extra effort. In this class, I will teach learners how to take care of their teeth with braces, and why it is so important. Once good oral hygiene habits are formed, it becomes easier to maintain a healthy smile both during and after orthodontic treatment.  

After discussing why it is so important to take good care of our teeth with braces, I will explain some of the negative outcomes that can occur if oral hygiene is neglected during this important time. Habits and choices made now can affect the way the teeth will look permanently. I will teach learners the best ways to properly care for their teeth with braces using visuals and demonstrations. I will demonstrate the correct techniques for brushing and flossing, and introduce tools that are helpful for oral hygiene during orthodontic treatment. Learners will be given opportunities throughout class to interact and answer questions. We will end class by setting individual goals and learning some fun facts about braces.
