Class Experience

"Buddy the Elf, What's your favorite color?" Does your child love the movie Elf? If so this is the class for you! This Elf class is all about social skills and FUN! We will discuss the Elf movie and its characters. During our discussions, I will guide the students to analyze the roles of the different characters in Buddy the Elf's life. I truly want this to be an open forum where we can talk about all of the things we love about Elf (I love it so much I can quote the movie). In the second half of the class, we will play "Buddy the Elf Trivia"! This will be a great time for the students to show off their Elf knowledge.

Learning Goals

-Students will practice their character analysis skills while discussing the different characters of the movie Elf.
-Students will practice listening and speaking skills as we freely discuss Elf.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Missy.
I have been a teacher for the past 19 years. I have taught every grade 1st-8th (with the exception of 2nd grade). Currently, I am an Instruction Coach and work with teachers to help build curriculum, foster relationships with students, and add rigor to their lessons for comprehension and student engagement. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and I enjoy creating lessons for students that connect to real-life experiences. I truly believe that all students can learn, we all just may learn in a different way. I love the challenge of taking a lesson and creating multiple ways to teach it so that all students can access the content. I am a mother to three hockey-playing boys and we spend a lot of time in rinks (oddly enough I do not like being cold). My youngest son is dyslexic and I am always trying to find new ways to teach him. I take the same determination to help him be successful in my classroom to help others because I know that all students deserve a teacher who believes in them!
I am an avid reader and I love to be creative! I use my Cricut machine daily and I cant not wait to share my ideas with others. I will be teaching many different types of classes from reading strategies that work, study skills, note-taking, book discussions, and even how to create your own t-shirt designs. I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my passion for teaching and creativity with you and your child.
