In this one-time class, students will be exposed to the basics of writing a well-organized, grammatically correct short essay.
Class experience
In this one-time class, students will refresh their writing techniques and will be boosted to the next level. We will begin by reviewing the grammar basics, what makes a good sentence, and using parts of speech to make their writing more interesting. Then we will work off a sample prompt "About My Pet" where they will be provided with a copy of a weak writing example. We will collectively work together to write a more interesting, grammatically correct paragraph on the same topic. ...
Students will review the basics of age-appropriate good writing (grammar usage, sentence construction, parts of speech), edit and improve a sample paragraph, and write one of their own.
I am a licensed English teacher grades 5-12 since 1998 and a mastered degree/licensed reading teacher grades K-12 since 2003. My passion is in teaching students not just to be able to read and write but to love doing so. I have homeschooled my own children, taught online during the pandemic, and have opened an in-person bilingual school of my own. I teach on Outschool as a desire to share my passion with more students globally.
Students should have notebook paper and a writing utensil of their choosing. Optionally they may have colored pencils on hand for editing their own work. Any handouts that I use will be of my own creation and will be shared with families at least twenty-four hours prior to the start of class to allow for printing if desired.
