COURSE OVERVIEW: In this one-time, 30 min. class, the teacher will begin by evaluating the student's current abilities, educational needs, and goals either by observing the student writing or through an uploaded writing sample. The teacher will then create and implement a custom, educational plan based upon the individual, student's strengths and weaknesses for parental approval. 

TOPICS COVERED: Sessions may include a broad range of specific ELA skills such as spelling, grammar, phonics, handwriting, revising, and editing as seen necessary to nurture the student's holistic writing development. 

CLASS STRUCTURE: This is individualized, private tutoring. This minimizes classroom distractions while maximizing instructional time.

TEACHING STYLE: My teaching style is relational. What's driving student behavior and motivation or lack thereof? How can we help them experience a love of the art and practice of writing? What specific skills are they missing that will enhance their current abilities? These are questions I'm looking to answer when I meet with a student.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Students need to be writing at a beginning of 2nd grade level. At minimum, they should be writing basic sentences. They should know to space between words. They should be combining simple subjects and verbs. They should know letter sounds and be able to read simple CVC words. 
 
STUDENT ATTENDANCE: Students who do not arrive to class within 10 minutes of the start time will be judged as a student no show according to Outschool policy. Please check your start time carefully and prepare accordingly. Thank you!
