Class Experience
This course will take learners from writing basic, simple sentences, through building on those simple sentences, to finishing with formal multiple-sentence paragraphs. Classes will include grammar, punctuation, and parts of speech discussions, using the CUPS acronym (capitalization, usage of grammar, punctuation, and spelling) and a sandwich analogy for the paragraphs. Week 1: We begin with basic sentences. Learners will look at a picture and be guided through writing a simple sentence....

Students will:
learn nouns, verbs, prepositions, adjectives
learn to use capitals
learn to use periods and occasionally question marks and exclamation points
learn to construct simple 3-5 word sentences
learn to build complex sentences one step at a time
learn the parts of a paragraph
learn about graphic organizers
learn to write a simple paragraph
begin to learn to write formal paragraphs
