25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This one-time class provides an opportunity for those Halloween-lovers to expand their trick-or-treating fun, while learning the correct Spanish meaning and pronunciation of those 'spooky' Halloween words that make this holiday awesome! Learners are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes during class for a complete experience, and to learn some Spanish words related to their chosen character, so that they can start using those Spanish words right away! We will focus on understanding and pronunciation of Halloween-themed words, while looking at pictures presented by the teacher. Parents will have access to a document with a smaller version of these pictures in advance. Before coming to class, learners should print them out, color them as they choose, cut them with the help of an adult, and bring them to class so that they can identify them and choose the correct one to show to the teacher, as they hear the Spanish word for each one. There will be lots and lots of repetition and interaction with the teacher as we learn the correct pronunciation of these words. Learners will also be introduced to a few Spanish phrases that can help them maximize their spooky fun this Halloween. This class does not require previous knowledge of Spanish language, as we will use pictures and pre-made sentences for memorization. However, since these are Halloween-specific Spanish words and phrases, even Spanish beginner learners may not have been exposed to them before, and therefore, they are welcome to join the class.
Learning Goals
In this 25 minute class, learners will have the opportunity to learn the meaning and pronunciation in Spanish of some of the most commonly used words and phrases during Halloween time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Foreign Language from University of Delaware
I have been a teacher and a tutor for about 17 years, for preschool children starting at 3 years old, elementary and middle school children, and college students. I have taught and tutored Spanish, French, ESL, and regular curriculum, by creating my own lessons. I enjoy art, music, reading and nature. I have worked as a teacher and 1-on-1 tutor for ESL students for the last 7 years. I am a proud homeschool mother of a very active, smart and energetic 11 year old boy and I help homeschool my 7-year-old twin nephews, who are in the autism spectrum. I believe that repetition, engagement and a stress-free environment are the keys to learning success. I love to give my students the tools that they will need for easy and effective communication in the targeted language, especially by presenting it in a way that encourages the learner to make it a part of their everyday life and to want to learn more on their own.
