Elementary Science Summer Camp: Exploring Energy, Buoyancy, & Chemical Reactions

Unleash your inner Scientist in this 3-day summer camp adventure! Designed for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th graders, learners will explore the world of physical science as they create catapults, test buoyancy, and experiment with chemical reactions.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
What does energy, catapults, chemistry, popcorn, buoyancy, and you have in common? Join this hands-on Science class and find out! This 3 day Science camp will get you off of the couch and watching things fly, float, and bust a move!

This three day camp covers the following Scientific concepts:

🏹Day 1- Energy: We will make a catapult as we talk about potential, kinetic, and transferred energy!

🛶Day 2- Buoyancy- What makes items sink or float? What happens when you put the same object in three different liquids?

🧪Day 3- Chemistry- If an object sinks, is there anything that can change the outcome? In this class, we will learn how chemical reactions impact the items around them!

What is camp without games?
After we complete our experiments, we will challenge each other with games on Gimkit. A Gimkit account is not required for this class. Learners will be provided with a link via the chat on Zoom to access the game.

What materials are required for this class?
Learners will need:
popsicle sticks
rubber bands
raisins or popcorn kernels
3 cups
water
baking soda
vinegar
3 eggs
1/2 cup of salt
1/2 cup of sugar

Learners will be provided with daily notebook pages that can be used for future reference. Learners can choose to glue the page on a piece of paper or start a Science notebook!
