Class Experience

Mass and volume are the foundation to elementary science and their study offers opportunity for engaging activities. Students will learn about mass and volume and be introduced to the concept of density in this two-class course. Students will be shown balances and I will model their use to measure the mass of solids, liquids and gases. Students will also learn how to use graduated cylinders to measure the volume of colored liquids and produce colorful displays. I will also show common liquids can differ with respect to their mass and density.
The class will include interesting demonstrations.
