In this class, we will explore the anatomy and function of the lungs and respiratory system. We will take a look inside the lungs and see how each part works together to make the lungs function. We will make a set of lungs in class to learn how the lungs fill and deflate. We will discuss asthma and how it can affect lung function. I teach in an interactive way balancing lecturing with powerpoint with discussion and asking questions of students. I love seeing students excited about science...
Students will understand the basic anatomy and function of the lungs and respiratory system.
I have experience working with children in a hospital setting and providing developmentally appropriate education about anatomy and physiology.
2 small ziplock bags or paper lunch bags 2 straws tape (masking or duct tape preferred) play-do or clay handouts provided by instructor
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
