Students will perform hands on science experiments and models in a weekly ongoing flex class. (This class will be posted as a live class in September. Please message the teacher if you would like to know when the class begins live sessions.) Teacher, Ms Simply Sarah, is a certified teacher holding a state certificate in Elementary Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Gifted and Talented. Her expertise include developing enrichment opportunities and support for all students beyond their regular educational curriculum. Her passion is creating unique and personalized learning activities for students to be challenged, so they never find learning boring!
Week 1: Melting Matter ~ 2 Clear cups (For ice cubes and or ice cream) ~ Salt (4 Tablespoons) ~ One of theses materials: Baking Soda, Sand, Flour, Baking Powder, Dirt ~ 2 Ice Cubes or 2 Tablespoons of Ice Cream *Students can experiment with only ice cubes or ice cream. Or students can experiment with ice cubes and ice cream. Week 2: What is it? ~ Water (1 cup) ~ Cornstarch (1 1/2 cup) ~ Bowl Week 3: Suspenseful Experiment ~ Clear Jars or Container for Liquids ~ Liquid Choices: * Please choose a least 2 liquids Whole Milk Syrup Choice (pancake, maple, corn, etc.) Cooking Oil Choice (canola, vegetable , olive, coconut, etc.) Dish soap Water ~ Testing Item Ideas: *Items will get wet in liquids Legos, Crayon, Plastic Silverware, Penny, Paperclip, Rock, Beads, Bracelet, Small Ball (ping pong, super ball, golf ball, etc.), Dice, Button, Cork, Wood, Raisin, Grape, Carrot, Cherry Tomato (Any other toys and or objects the student would like to test) Week 4: The Biggest Bubble ~ 3 Cups ~ 3 Straws ~ Dish Soap ~ Hand Soap ~ Water ~ Liquid Choice Ideas: * Please bring your favorite drink or any drink Milk, Pop/Soda, Juice, etc Week 5: Gravity Drop Toys (to be dropped) Paper Towel or Napkin Writing Utensil 2 sheets Paper
