Class Experience

Why hire me to teach your child to write?
I am a certified teacher grades pre-k to 6th grade for all subjects. I am also certified in ESL and Special Education from pre k-12th grade. I have many years of experience teaching in a traditional public-school setting, homeschool setting (k-12th), private tutoring, and teaching online. Teaching reading and writing is what I was made to do. I enjoy spending time with children, and very much enjoy helping them find their talents to read and write. We have a lot of fun doing so! I allow children to explore their own creativity while writing, and this has proven to be extremely effective in creating amazing writers. I would be honored to explore the techniques of writing with your child.
Students will be given weekly homework. This homework is essential to complete as it will be needed to continue with the process in the next class.
1. Crayons, markers, pencils, pens 2. Folder or notebook to organize 3. The following are ideas for the final step in the writing process: Stapler, hole punch, yarn scraps, Rubber stamps, stickers, Glue, glue stick, tape Assorted paper: grade-level lined and unlined, construction paper (9"x12", 12"x18", and scraps), scrapbook paper, novelty paper These materials would be best to organize in a Writing Center Tub or bag for easy access during every class. Access to a printer to print worksheets, diagrams, and other tools the teacher will provide. You will need to scan ( NO PICTURES or picture files) your child's work and upload it into the classroom so that I may edit it and return it in the same method. I will not accept pictures or picture files.
I am a certified teacher, and I keep notes on each child throughout the class. If you are in need of a formal grade, I can provide that for you.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Your child will create a fun cover and art to include with their final drafts. If your child chooses to use scissors, a stapler or any other potentially dangerous item, please be sure to offer parental guidance. These materials will not be used during class.
