Master's Degree in Education from Shippensburg University
Hi! My name is Holly Hellam. I am a certified reading specialist. I have been teaching for 24 years. I have taught 2nd grade and 3rd grade before focusing on reading for the last 18 years. I received my bachelor's and master's degrees from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. I have experience teaching online courses through Cyber School and VIPKID. I also offer individualized tutoring to students in reading.
I am a mother of three boys and I enjoy attending their sporting events. I love to travel, especially to the beach! Our family takes a fishing trip each summer to Canada. I enjoy curling up with a good book and cooking.
I currently teach fourth & fifth grade students who are reading below grade level. I believe learning should be fun! I am proficient in administering diagnostic assessments to pinpoint areas of individual need. I am aware of strategies to address student needs in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. I am up to date on current best practices in reading, including the science of reading. I believe all students should be given a safe and supportive environment to learn and grow as readers. I look forward to seeing you in class!
