Class Experience

Following this class, learners will feel comfortable defining basic musical terminology. They will be able to identify different terminology in music when listening, such as "tempo" and "dynamics". They will have an idea of different instruments in the orchestra and be able to identify them upon hearing them. They will also have a broad understanding of different musical periods and know the names of famous composers from each era.
As a classical trained musician and educator, it is my ultimate goal to excite my learners so they want to keep learning! By offering a broad overview on many musical topics, learners have the opportunity to find things in music which make them excited. This class is a perfect bite-sized introduction to music and will set students up with basic knowledge that will allow them to excel in other musical pursuits in the future.
Learners should complete the posted comprehension activities after watching the video lectures and listening to the additional materials provided and post their responses to the classroom no later than Friday at 5pm.
All materials will be provided by the instructor.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learners are assessed through their completion of the assigned comprehension activities.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
