Class Experience
This summer we will explore instruments from around the world; including Mexico (Coco), Norwegian (Frozen), Native American (Pocahontas), Colombia (Encanto), and more! A virtual general music class using the music of Disney and other similar films to showcase the power of how music changes our perception of story and emotions. We will study the instrument families and how they are showcased in various forms. We will study the power of words in different songs and learn to write our own...
SWBT understand instrument families, identify different instruments, study culture diversity of music and instruments from around the world, composers, songwriting, and how music affects our emotions through various musical storytelling techniques.
Jim is a professions composer for film, TV, video games, orchestra, and band. Jim studied music education in the 90's and is currently seeking secondary degrees at the Berklee School of Music.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class uses a TON of video resources to enforce the lessons. Listening and watching is a big part of understanding instrument families, music from around the world, and technology in today's film world.
Disney+ is optional but not necessary. I always encourage the students to watch movies in its entirety after each class.
