Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 6
This one-to-one, ongoing class will allow your learner to work on any math topic they would like. Elementary math concepts include learning about whole numbers, decimals, fractions, geometry, word problems, number theory and so much more! Whether your child needs support in completing a homework assignment, would like extension questions or simply want a better understanding of a concept, this private tutoring class will allow me to personalize my teaching to meet your learner’s specific needs. Because I have taught ESL Newcomer classes completely in Spanish, I can also assist students who are currently enrolled in Spanish Immersion classes who need assistance with understanding either the concepts, or the word problems that are written in Spanish. I am a native Spanish speaker with over 20 years experience teaching middle school math and 11 years as a curriculum coach working with educators on effective teaching practices. I have worked with English language learners my entire career and have both a bachelors and masters degree in teaching mathematics. I use visuals, auditory and body movement to help students understand math and I ask questions throughout class to make sure they are understanding the concepts. I also ask questions to gauge where my student’s base level is, so we can build from there. Please let me know in advance what topic your learner would like to work on and if they need remediation or extension. If possible, upload any homework assignment before class. I look forward to working with your child and helping them have a successful school year.
