Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
For this 25-minute session, we will work on whatever math-related topic your student is needing assistance with. Tutoring sessions are designed to be only 25 minutes long to ensure that students have instructional time without feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or antsy. (However, you can reach out to me if you are interested in longer sessions) This 1:1 time can be used for math remediation, extension, or homework assistance. Please let me know in advance before our first session what topic or topics you would like me to cover as the this is a student/parent directed class. I am comfortable with any early elementary math topic. I can assist with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, telling time, word problems, and more. I have previously taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade as a public school teacher in Massachusetts. My teaching and tutoring style is very supportive, inclusive, understanding, and encouraging. I believe that every student can learn and be successful. In my years as a teacher, I have assisted many struggling students in the area of math. I have also had experience working with students of varying abilities within my classroom. When possible, I like to utilize a multi-sensory approach to math. I also enjoy using drawings, online manipulatives, and other visuals to help students gain a deeper understanding of the content. Please reach out to me after enrolling so we can discuss your child's needs and goals.

I can support your learner with any unique needs. Some example supports can include visual aids, breaking down assignments into pieces and chunks, reading aloud of material where appropriate, and positive reinforcement/verbal praise.
