Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn the definition of multiplcation, they will understand there are multiple strategies to solve multiplication problems. Students will begin to understand that subtraction is fast addition and related to addition. The strategies we will discuss: counting, drawing, estimating, and a specific clue for breaking down all the multipliers for numbers 1 through 12 (ie, x1 is Just that number! x2 is just a double of that number! ...)

Take a Multiplication Problem from Class and Turn it into an Addition Problem at Home to share at the next class

Choose Your Favorite Strategy, Teach it to Someone at Home

Count by Your Favorite Number (2s, 3s, etc.) with someone at home
Paper, Pencil, Crayons, Markers (to complete scratch work on) Homework will be sent through Classroom, need ability to print
Students will do a reteach on the 3rd day of classes each week to share what they learned. Mrs. Sarah will take detailed notes for each child and share a summary with parents for what they can do at home to reinforce and contiune the math learning fun.
3 hours per week in class, and no time outside of class.
