Elementary Intermediate Spanish ~ Part 8 (8 of 9)
This Spanish class is designed for students who have completed Elementary Spanish Parts 1-7 or have taken 2-3 years of Spanish instruction at school. Throughout the course, students will learn vocabulary related to different types of homes, food in a market, clothing, city places, and time.

1 hour per week. Students will receive writing assignments or verb conjugation practice at the end of each week. They can turn in their work for feedback from Sra. Schreiner and have the option to present their writing in class.Assessment
We will play games to assess student learning and growth during the last week of classes. Students will write a short description of an Alebrije in Spanish.Certificate of Completion

¡Hola! Come sing, move, play games, and write in Spanish! We will take what we learned in previous classes and extend our conversations. To be successful in this class, I recommend completing Elementary Spanish Parts 1-7 or, have taken 2-3 years of Spanish instruction at school. In this class, students will learn to name different types of homes, discuss food in a market, identify clothing and ask about prices, discuss and describe city places, and finally, tell time by the hour and sequence events. This class will not have a final project but instead have an optional short writing piece or verb conjugation practice sheet each week to practice concepts learned in class. Students will learn the following animals throughout the course as part of activities and conversation: Racoon, Fox, Deer, Wolf, Rabbit, Owl, Mouse, Bear, Squirrel, Skunk, Hedgehog Week 1 Topics (la casa) I know frequently used classroom phrases. Review: I can count by 10s to 100. I can name types of homes. I can say where things are located in a house. I can use the verb “to live” to describe where people live. (Conjugation of the verb: vivir) Week 2 Topics: (el mercado) I can say where things are located in a house. I can count from 20 to 30. I can discuss foods I see in the market. I can ask how much food costs. I can count foods. I can use the verb “to eat” to say what people eat. (conjugation of the verb: comer) Week 3 Topics: (la ropa) Review: clothing vocabulary I can count from 30 to 50. I can describe clothing by color and pattern. I can ask how much clothing costs. I can say if clothing is expensive or cheap. Week 4 Topics: (la ciudad) I can name places in the city. I can say where I go and others go in the city. (conjugate verb "ir") I can use ordinal numbers. (primero, segundo, tercero, cuarto) Week 5 Topics: (la escuela) Review: I can name school supplies and classes. I can discuss a class schedule using ordinal numbers. I can identify games played in school. I can use the verb "jugar" to talk about what games people play. Week 6 Topics: (la escuela y la hora) Review: I can name the months of the year. Review: I can count to 12. Review: ordinal numbers I can tell the time on the hour. I can discuss at what time various activities happen. Week 7 Topics: (los alebrijes) I can demonstrate an understanding of concepts previously learned. (games, conversations, quizzes) I know about Alebrijes from México. I can design my own Alebrije. Week 8 Topics: (¡los juegos!) I can present my poster about my Alebrije. I can play games to practice what I learned. I can celebrate my learning! All weeks: Students will practice the piñata 🪅 song as part of our intro to class daily! If time allows, students will review the Spanish alphabet and practice spelling familiar words.

Parental Guidance
We will also utilize the 3rd party tools Kahoot & Blooket throughout the course to keep students engaged. I will send you a message ahead of these classes so you can prepare your learner with a split screen or an extra device. These tools do not require a separate login, instead, I will send a code during class for students to access the activity or game.
Supply List
We will begin to practice writing more intentionally. Students are encouraged to complete the weekly assignment to improve their writing skills and begin to understand how to conjugate verbs in Spanish.
