Intermediate Level
¡Hola! Come sing, move, and play games in Spanish! Students will take what was learned in previous classes and extend their conversations. To be successful in this class, I recommend completing “Elementary Beginner Spanish Parts 1-3” or 1-2 years of Spanish instruction at school. In this class, students will learn to describe animals using adjectives and talk about their habitats. Students will learn to name the 7 continents and name items seen in the natural world. Students will also continue to review and practice mini-conversations throughout the course to review and expand on content from previous classes. Please note that "Elementary Intermediate Spanish Parts 4-6" are interchangeable to provide more flexibility. Week 1 Topics: I know frequently used classroom phrases. I can introduce myself to the class. (Hola. Me llamo _________. Tengo ___ años. Soy ______. Yo vivo en ___________________.” I can name animals I see. (la jirafa, el hámster, el elefante, el gato, el oso, el perro, el pájaro, la cebra, la ardilla, el ratón.) I can describe animals using adjectives. (alto, bajo, grande, pequeño) I can name shapes and colors. Week 2 Topics: I can name city places. I can name my favorite shape. I can say where animals live. I can tell if an animal is a pet or a wild animal. I can name animal habitats. Week 3 Topics: I know when to use gusta vs. gustan. I can name opposites. I can sort animals by their habitat. I can say if I like, love, or don’t like various animals. Week 4 Topics: I can have a mini-conversation about the weather. I can say where I live. I can say if an animal scares me. I can name the 7 continents. I can say how animals move. Week 5 Topics: I can give directions in a school. I can name the 7 continents. I can name my continent. I can describe how animals move. I can say how I move. Week 6 & 7 Topics: I can name rooms in a house. I can name various objects that are in a house. I can name various things in nature. I can say where objects/animals are located. (Prepositions of location) I can write a paragraph describing an animal. (Preparation for final project) Week 8 Topics: Review previously learned topics. I can present my final project. I can celebrate my learning!
