¡Hola!

Come sing, move, and play games in Spanish!  We will take what we learned in previous classes and extend our conversations.  To be successful in this class, I recommend completing “Elementary Beginner Spanish Parts 1-3” or 1-2 years of Spanish instruction.  In this class, we will learn about concepts relating to school and daily life such as school subjects, going to lunch, months, school activities, and more!  We will also continue to review previously learned concepts and practice mini-conversations.  

Please note that "Elementary Intermediate Spanish Parts 4-6" are interchangeable to provide more flexibility. 

Week 1 Topics:  
I know frequently used classroom phrases. 
I can introduce myself to the class.
I can name school supplies.  
I know when to use articles.  (el, la, los, las)
I can name school subjects.  (matemáticas, arte, música, español, educación física, ciencias, almuerzo, recreo)

Week 2 Topics:
I know helpful phrases.  (por favor, gracias, de nada, ayúdame, no sé, ¿Cómo se dice?)
I can say where school supplies are located. (Prepositions of location)
I can ask where classes at school are located. (¿Dónde está ____________?)
I can give directions at school.  (sigue derecho, gira a la izquierda, gira a la derecha)
I can say if I like, don’t like, or love school subjects. 

Week 3 Topics: 
I can greet people based on the time of day.  (buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches)
I can say where people go in a city.
I can name my favorite school subject. 
I can name the days of the week.
I can read a schedule and discuss class schedules.  

Week 4 Topics:
I can name the months of the year. 
I can say how old I am. 
I can sing the birthday song.

Week 5 Topics:
I can tell someone my birthday month. 
I can name the months of the year.
I can have a mini-conversation to give directions. 
Repaso:  I can describe the weather. 

Week 6 Topics:
I can read a weather report.
I can discuss if I like or dislike various weather. 
I can name body parts. 
I can tell you if a body part hurts.

Week 7 Topics:
I can name various lunch foods. 
I can name various beverages.
I can discuss if I like or don’t like food.  
I know when to use “gusta vs. gustan.” 
I know how to complete my final project. 

Week 8 Topics:
Review previously learned topics. 
I can present my final project.
I can celebrate my learning!

Additional Vocabulary:
Through activities and short conversations, students will also become familiar with the following animal vocabulary: Tiger, Zebra, Giraffe, Monkey, Frog, Snake

First 9 classes:  Students will practice the song "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" song (en español) as part of our intro to class daily!
