¡Hola! Come sing, move, and play games in Spanish! We will take what we learned in “Elementary Spanish Parts 1-3” and extend our conversations. To be successful in this class, I recommend completing "Elementary Spanish Parts 1-3" or have taken 1-2 years of Spanish instruction. In this class, students will learn concepts relating to school life such as school supplies, places in a school, and more. Students will also be able to describe themselves with positive adjectives. We will continue to review previously learned concepts and practice mini-conversations. Please note that "Elementary Intermediate Spanish Parts 4-6" are interchangeable to provide more flexibility. Week 1 Topics: I know frequently used classroom phrases. I can have a mini-conversation. (Hola. ¿Cómo te llamas? Me llamo ________. ¿Cómo estás? Estoy ______. ¿y tú? Adiós.) I can name school supplies. (el cuaderno, el libro, el lápiz, los marcadores, los crayones, el papel, las tijeras, la regla.) I can use colors to describe school supplies. Week 2 Topics: I can name school supplies. I can say how old I am. I can ask and answer where school supplies are located. (encima de, debajo de, al lado de, cerca de, lejos de) Week 3 & 4 Topics: I can describe the size of various school supplies. (grande, mediano, pequeño) I can listen to a story in Spanish. I can name my favorite color. I can name places at school. (la escuela, la oficina, el pasillo, la biblioteca, el gimnasio, la cafetería, el patio de recreo, la aula) I can say where I am going in a school. (Voy a…) Week 5 Topics: I can greet people based on the time of day. (Buenos días, Buenas tardes, Buenas noches) I can politely ask for school supplies. (¿Me prestas ____, por favor?) I can count school supplies. (Números 0-20) I know when to use articles. (el vs. la) Week 6 Topics: I can say how I feel. (Review of emotions and learn new choices) I can count school supplies. (Números 0-20) I can politely ask where a place at school is located. Week 7 Topics: I can say if I like or dislike various activities. I can describe myself. (Soy…) I know how to complete my final project. Week 8 Topics: I can recall previously learned concepts. I can say what is in my backpack. I can create a project to demonstrate learning. Class 15: directions and group practice Class 16: presentations and celebrations! However, the student will need to see my screen, plus an additional screen. Students can access Kahoot, from a smartphone, tablet, or split-screen on the same device. My formal education includes a major in Spanish and a minor in education. I have been teaching Spanish to elementary-age students since 2010! My experience includes teaching in public schools for 9 years, online ESL for 6 years, and on Outschool since June 2020. I also have created Elementary Spanish curricula for a private school and all of my curricula on Outschool.
