Homework
1 hour per week. Learners will develop an interactive notebook page to effectively visualize the skill being taught. Learners will also engage with linked Kahoot games to reinforce their understanding and practice of the skills learned.
Assessment
Learners will be provided with a Kahoot game to assess their knowledge. Learners will have the opportunity to use the game as a grade.
Grading
Optional grades will be offered through Kahoot. Learners who wish to receive a grade, must indicate on the assessment post. Grades will be posted on Friday.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Join this writing enhancement class to progress from basic sentences to developing a comprehensive understanding of sentence elements, structure, and types. Participants will master the art of using coordinating and subordinating conjunctions to merge independent and dependent clauses, thus creating compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences effortlessly. Interactive notebook pages provided in each lesson serve as valuable tools for learners to visualize and refer back to the combining process, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience.

How does this self-paced class work? 
The class is self-paced with no live meetings. A recording will be posted weekly to introduce the concept, simulating a classroom experience. Learners in flexible classes can pause, rewind, and review the lesson as needed, enhancing their understanding and retention of the material.

How will learners apply what they learn? 
During the recording, learners will complete a visual for their interactive notebook. After class, learners will be directed to Kahoot for fun educational activities to apply what they learned. Learners will receive feedback based off their work completed on the Kahoot activities. An account is not required for Kahoot. 

What is an interactive notebook? 
An interactive notebook is a learner made notebook that visualizes grammar skills in charts, flip charts, graphics, and more! After class, the interactive becomes a resource that supports all language art curriculums.

Does this class offer grades?
This class offers an option for grades, using Kahoot. Instructions will be provided on how to receive grades.

 This lesson reviews the 4 types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamative). Learners will learn the punctation that goes with each type of sentence. Learners will create an interactive notebook page and play games to test their knowledge of the 4 different types.

 This lesson reviews the two parts of sentences (subject & predicate). Learners will learn how to identify subjects and predicates in  sentences. Learners will create an interactive notebook page and play games to test their knowledge of subjects and predicates.

 This lesson covers simple sentences and sentences rules. Learners will create an interactive notebook page and play games to identify sentences that meet all of the rules.
