Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their understanding of targeted grammar concepts to apply to their personal reading and writing.
None - However, your child will receive a grammar "challenge" to complete at home to practice the concepts. This is optional, but strongly encouraged, since it is important to practice to show growth.
Please see the "CLASSROOM" tab for your learner for the printable challenge assignments that will post after each class. You should also receive an email notification that a post has been made in the classroom.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This set of classes is designed for the beginning reader/writer at a third grade equivalency or higher, or for those that need support, in the topics mentioned below: The course outline: (subject to change in level of difficulty and expansion due to individual student needs) 1) Active and Passive Voice (using action words in different ways as they interact with nouns) 2) Possessive Nouns (how to write plural and singular and where to place apostrophes) 3) Quotation Marks (how and where to use them, including the use of commas and punctuation) 4) Similes and Metaphors (understanding the figurative meanings of and identifying which type is used in text) 5) Alliteration (reading and creating examples) 6) "I" versus "Me" (understanding when to use each pronoun) 7) Multiple Meaning Words (using words that have different meanings depending on how they are used in text) 8) Final Review (using skills learned in the course as a final review - may include an editing activity)
