Learners will explore a new acrostic to guide poetry writing and draw a picture to go with it. Depending on the acrostic of the week and learner, several pieces may be produced in one session, but every learner can expect to walk away with at least one piece per session. This is a great introductory course in poetry. Teachers will use language while guiding learners in brainstorming to define poetry elements, such as alliteration, onomatopoeia, stanzas, verses, and more. Learners and teachers can brainstorm together and share their work throughout the class. Learners will have an (optional) opportunity to share their work at the end of class.
