No one likes to talk about it. We all hide from it. We all do it. Everybody farts. In this class we will discuss farts. What is a fart? Do farts have a scientific name (hint: yes)? We will talk about why we pass gas. What happens in our digestive tract. The different kinds of farts: Normal farts, Silent but deadly, The Swamp Ninja, The Howler, and more. We will talk about why we find farts funny. People farts, animal farts, frog farts, do birds fart? There are scientists who actually study farts. While we discuss farts we will use our imaginations to draw what we think the different farts look like.
Learning Goals
Students will know the scientific word for farts.

𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢, where curiosity takes the reins! I'm Kathy, your guide on this exciting journey of exploration.
In our classroom, we embrace The Socratic Method, believing that questions fuel our learning. Together, we'll form our circle of inquiry – a safe space where we're free to delve into our thoughts, respect diverse perspectives, and discover more about ourselves along the way. My classes focus around the philosophical questions that we experience in our daily lives, books, and movies.
A bit about me: I have a BFA from The School of Visual Arts. As an ACE Teacher on Outschool, I've embraced Professional Development Training, honing Outschool's three core principles: Agency, Community, & Expertise.
I bring to our classes a variety of experiences, having donned various hats – from a 15-year stint as an Advertising Executive in corporate America to roles as a Homeschool Teacher and ESL Teacher. I'm a book enthusiast, everything from classics to contemporary themes, even enjoying a bit of mind candy. My passion extends to old movies, where I enjoy introducing timeless classics from the Golden Age of Hollywood to students. Having guided my own children through high school and on to college, I collaborate with local homeschoolers, teaching philosophy, literature, movie studies, and facilitating open discussions on diverse topics like Philosophy, Banned Books, Novel Studies, Hollywood movies, and Women's Studies.
Beyond the classroom, you will find me singing loudly and unapologetically in the car and enjoying moments with family. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀:
𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗬: I have a limited refund policy, which means refunds are available up to 7 days before class starts (or within 24 hours of enrollment). As your enrollment reserves the spot for your child (and prevents another child from taking that spot), I do not issue refunds for late withdrawals or missed classes.
𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆:
When you enroll your child in my classes, you are paying for a live, interactive group learning experience. To maintain the integrity of this format, I do not release recordings of my live classes.
The decision not to share recordings is to protect the safety and privacy of all learners. Many families prefer that recordings of their children not be made available to others, and I fully respect and prioritize that preference. Additionally, this policy helps safeguard my intellectual property, as the lessons I teach are original content I have personally developed. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for educational materials to be misused or copied without permission.
Thank you for your understanding and support in creating a safe and respectful learning environment.
