Description

Class Experience

Students will: identify popular wizards, understand their origins, compare and contrast their legends, abilities and motives. Students will demonstrate their understanding through a variety of hands-on and interactive projects, challenges, and meaningful discussion. Students will also explore and experiment with related STEAM concepts. Students will also complete guided creative projects, with the opportunity to customize the outcomes based on their own ideas and inspiration.
I'm so excited to share my love of fantasy, and embark on this exciting adventure with you! I've been teaching STEAM through fun, engaging topics like these to Preschool through Middle School students for 7 years through an independent STEAM education company, and I'm really looking forward to connecting with new students here on Outschool. Not only will we geek out over learning about famous wizards--but we'll sneak in some STEM/STEAM education, comparing and contrasting, observation, movement, creativity, literary themes and more!
Extension activities may be provided between classes. These projects are encouraged but not required. They will provide additional opportunity for enrichment in the subject area.
Printable materials will be provided before each class. Access to a printer is required--however, if you do not have one, please reach out so that the teacher can work on a solution with you. (We will make it work!)
Students should provide their own paper, pencil, colored pencils or crayons, playdough or sculpting clay, creative building blocks such as plastic building bricks and baseplates, bristle blocks, wooden blocks, etc.
Some additional materials may be used for in-class projects and the optional homework assignments, but they will be simple, easily found, household, office or craft items, and will be communicated during the week prior to the class when they are needed.
I am always happy to help families find an alternative material that can be adapted to use in class if any of these items are not available.
No formal assessment. Teacher feedback is available upon request.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
