Hello and welcome to Electric Circuits 101 with Snap Circuits! My name is is Hina and together we will embark on a mission to learn how electricity works! This is a beginner level course so all are welcome. In this week long class we will be learning how electrical circuits and electronics work, all through simple experiments. We will learn what electrical components like diodes, resistors and capacitors do and how they work, while making cool electric circuits of our own every day! We will be using Snap Circuits for our experiments. With Snaps Circuits, there’s no need for wires, plugs or dangerous soldering irons to learn about electricity, all you need to do is plug in the right components to construct your own working electrical circuits. This way you can test out for yourself and learn through experiments how the components work while taking away any risk of getting electrocuted! At Code Kids we believe in project based learning. When children learn through play, they never forget the lessons. Therefore we will work on a new, slightly more complex project every day. This is a five-day course covering 5 cool projects that will teach the basics of electricity. Agenda We will cover the following concepts throughout the week Day 1: Charge and Current Day 2: Series and Parallel Circuits Day 3: Conductors and Resistance Day 4: Diodes and Capacitance Day 5: Sound waves Understanding circuits is helpful to anybody, opening the door to hundreds of fun ideas and principles! REQUIREMENTS: You will need a Snap Circuits set for this class. The set can be ordered online via Amazon or any other retailer. There are a few in the market, but the minimum requirement for this course is a Snap Circuits Jr. However it’s recommended to get Snap Circuits SC-320, SC-500 or SC-760 model if your child has a serious passion for electronics. You will also need 2 AA batteries

Teacher expertise and credentials
We are a London (England) based team of engineers, coders and developers who specialise in hands on learning. Our approach is project based. We don't teach coding for the sake of coding. We engage the children in coding projects that have a goal that is aligned to the students' interests. We may be new to Outschool, but we are 6 years old and have spent over 6000 hours teaching online since March 2020. We have a 5-star rating on Google and Facebook!
All our instructors have enhanced background checks on an annual basis, and have paediatric first aid certificates that are renewed every 3 years. We are also registered with the information commissioner's office and are general data protection regulation (GDPR) compliant (which means all your personal data is safe when you book with us, and is never shared with anyone else).
