Electricity, what it is, and how it works in a fun, energetic fast moving format. The goal of this class is to provide a good foundation of what the force of electricity is with proper terminology and safety rules. The student is then equipped to go further in learning built on a solid foundation. Concepts explored: The structure of atoms and electrons The force of nature that creates electricity Conductors and insulators Batteries and how they work Importance of a complete circuit Controlling electricity with switches The nature of sparks and lightening Electrical safety rules This class is an interactive live whiteboarding session. The students are invited to actively participate with questions, comments, etc to whatever degree they are comfortable. They may choose to actively participate or passively absorb. This tends to be a very fast moving class to hold the students attention and inspire them to continue learning about electricity. This class introduces the basic of electricity. You may choose to deepen the understanding and skill set by following it with the more in depth hands-on experiment classes: Measuring electricity - a three session Hands-On series about how to use a voltmeter Making electricity - a three session Hands-On series where we build a battery, a generator, and a solar cell Controlling Electricity - a multi part series of series where students learn how to build various devices with a electronic project board.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Electricity has been a big part of my life. As a teenager I was building computer circuits, robots, and discrete electric devices. I worked after school in my Dad's radio shack store repairing everything from radios to toasters to TV's. Through the decades I held on and developed this understanding through hands on experience as well as formal courses.
Perhaps more importantly I have a skill for explaining complex concepts in a simple easy to understand manner and a passion for plain true practical understanding to the next generation. Learning should be deep and fun!
