What's included

2 live meetings
1 in-class hours per week
Homework
1-2 hours per week. -Please review sight words daily with your learner. These are words that appear often in books but are hard to sound out phonetically and will need to be memorized and recognized by sight (thus the name, sight words:). To improve reading skills it's imperative that learners are seeing these words often. I am providing flash cards that can be used as an option but there are a lot of creative and fun ways that you can incorporate sight words into learning practice. -In addition to sight words, please encourage your learner to read daily. The weekly reader provided in the classroom is a great option but any book on their level will do. It's also great that they hear you or another strong reader read on an on going basis to help them with building their own fluency and vocabulary.

Teacher expertise and credentials
New Jersey Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Master's Degree in Education from New York University
Since the beginning of my graduate studies in Educational Theatre at New York University I've held a strong interest in exposing others to creative ways of learning and providing a platform for self-expression.

I've taught English through Theater to High School students in Zanzibar East Africa (where I was stung by a jellyfish)! I taught Character Study, Shakespeare, Playwriting and Performance at a High School in Newark, NJ. I taught 3rd grade in New Jersey and in North Carolina. I also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Graduate level at New York University. In between, I've worked as a teaching artist to practice social emotional learning with adults and youth grades K-8. Then, I decided to homeschool my son for preschool while teaching ESL on-line. With my son, I enjoyed helping him explore my love of reading with his natural love of math. I was so excited that he was ready for Kindergarten that I knew I just had to share our curriculum with other families. Now, I am not only sharing my preschool curriculum but other classes from my background as well. I do hope that you find something your learner can enjoy.
