Description
Class Experience
Students will work across ELA standards indicated for kindergarten/first grade (see http://www.corestandards.org/ for more information). Students will be met where they are. I aim for progress and application rather than perfection.
I am a former Special Education teacher, specializing in literacy. I have previously created courses for students with moderate to severe disabilities in middle school. I have written permission to use this curriculum that was created for autistic students.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
I will be using carefully curated videos and resources within Nearpod. I will use Nearpod in the teacher-directed mode. Students may choose to create a free Nearpod account and have two windows open to participate in student activities. Or, students can watch through my shared screen and participate through annotation. Nearpod is an approved third-party educational tool. It is rated as excellent through Common Sense Education. You may see their review here: https://www.commonsense.org/education/app/nearpod.
